Obituary of James Nienstedt

James B. Nienstedt died at home on July 17, 2017.  He was 87 years old.

Born in Brooklyn NY in 1930, he was a resident of Vienna, Virginia from 1964 to 1974 and a resident of Mendham Township, New Jersey until his death.  He built his home in Mendham in 1947.

He received his undergraduate degree from Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, Vermont and his MBA from Seton Hall University, South Orange, New Jersey.

He was a Korean War veteran and worked as a Technical Writer in both Washington D.C. and for the Bell System in New Jersey.  He also owned a Fun Services franchise in New Jersey.  He retired as a Technical Writing Consultant.

He was known for his amusing stories and sense of humor. He was an avid supporter of his children and grand children’s athletic pursuits and could be found on the sidelines as a spectator, a coach, or a volunteer.

He was a charitable man who always looked to help others.  He was a faithful servant of God and worked as an usher for many years at Saint Joseph church in Mendham.

He was a husband to Constance (Connie) Nienstedt until her death in 2014. He was a loving parent to his children Ted Nienstedt and his wife Donna of NC, James H. Nienstedt (deceased 2011) of Mendham, NJ, Ann Elizabeth (Beth) Bott of Mendham, NJ, Henry Nienstedt and his wife Carolyn of Morristown, NJ, and Virginia Nienstedt of Mendham, NJ. 

He is also survived by his two sisters, Virginia Dudis of New Jersey and Mary-Ellen Nienstedt of New Jersey.

He was a proud Grand Parent to his eight Grand Children (Andrew Nienstedt of NC, Robert Nienstedt of NC, Timothy Nienstedt of NC, Joseph Nienstedt of NC, Jonathan Nienstedt of NC, Analise Bott of CT, Julianne Nienstedt of Morristown, NJ, and Jack Nienstedt of Morristown, NJ).

Visitation Thursday from 4-8pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd., Mendham.  Funeral Mass Friday 10 am at teh Church of the Assumption, Maple Ave., Morristown. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, Washington, NJ.
